The award ceremony took place at London’s Royal Albert Hall and was hosted by Stephen Fry. La La Land headed the BAFTA Awards nominations with eleven spots and got picked away for the best titles. Emma Stone won Best Actress for her role, Damien Chazelle took home the award for Best Director, and it also won for Best Original Music. Apart from these, La La Land won the title for the best movie of 2016!
Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived to add royalty to the big night, and the royal couple looked as regal as ever. British director Ken Loach won his first non-honorary BAFTA for gritty benefits drama I, Daniel Blake. Mel Brooks won the annual BAFTA Fellowship, acknowledging the 90-year-old’s contribution to cinema. The 20-year-old Spider-Man actor, Tom Holland, also took home the trophy for the EE Rising Star, and this was the only category voted for by the public.
