REVIEW: 4/5
Anna garnered a lot of attention due to the Jan Lokpal protests but his preceding body of work is equally strong. The makeover he gave Ralegan Siddhi, his native place that is considered to be a model village by many is its best example. Shashank Udapurkar’s film is a road map of Kisan’s journey of becoming Anna.
The biopic is very well crafted & translates into acclaim and appreciation for Anna’s social work. The film shows Anna’s life through poverty in his growing-up years & also the time he spent in the Indian Army and what made him change his life’s direction to the path of social work.
Udapurkar’s portrayal is very convincing & his resemblance to Anna makes it the perfect combination. The rest of the cast includes big names, with their impeccably played characters adding on to the authenticity of the story. Tanishaa Mukerji plays her role as a TV reporter quite well.
The film like the man himself holds your attention from the beginning to the very end. The screenplay is a gripping presentation of events that moulded Anna into the man we know today.
