Let’s start with telling you what happened. With the release of Half Girlfriend only a few weeks away, the actor is busy giving interviews. Recently he spoke to a leading daily and talked about being an overweight teenager, the insecurities that come with it and how unpopular he was with women. “I’ve come to enjoy this popularity with the ladies rather late in life. I should embrace it instead of over-analysing it,” he said.
He was asked what he thinks his ‘appeal’ is and let’s just say, he needs better PR quotes – “I come across as a very Indian guy. My structure and size give off that ‘gabru jawan’ vibe. No matter how independent or emancipated a woman is, she likes to have someone around who will hold her hand and say, ‘Don’t worry, I’m here to take care of you.’
Ah, Arjun Kapoor. With opinions like this, we are genuinely surprised you get any attention at all.
For starters, please don’t stereotype women. Women don’t need someone who will hold her hand and ‘take care of her’. Yes, once in a while a woman might need someone – man, woman, dog, cat or a bottle of wine – that will tell her – ‘Hey, you got this. Go show them how it’s done’. And why just women? We all need someone to pep us up sometimes.
We’re no longer in a situation where behind every successful man, there is a woman. Women are way ahead of that building their own empire.
With all due respect, maybe you need a woman who will hold your hand, snap you back to reality and maybe even change your perspective?
