Bollywood has seen a lot of sequels in recent years like Race 2, Dabangg 2, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and many more, according to reports the film which is now going to have a sequel is Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa. The original film released in 2007 was directed by Priyadarshan the second instalment will be written and directed by Farhad Samji.
According to a source close to developments,
“Bhushan wanted to make a part 2 of Bhool Bhulaiyaa for a while now and has cracked an idea with Farhad Samji, who will be writing and directing the film. It is in the development stage and will feature a fresh cast. Once the final script is locked, the team will kick off casting and other pre-production formalities.”
Bhushan Kumar‘s production house T-Series has registered the title Bhool Bhulaiyaa and projects will soon be under the process. The original film by Priyadarshan was a remake of 2005 Rajinikanth starrer Tamil film Chandramukhi, which in turn was a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film, Manichitrathazhu, which had featured Mohanlal and Shobhana as leads.
Director Farhad Samji is directing the Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull 4. He has previously directed Entertainment (2014) and Housefull 3 (2016) with his writer-brother Sajid. The director has written Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan’s Coolie No. 1 remake, Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi, Ahmed Khan’s Baaghi 3 and Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmi Bomb.
The production house apart from the sequel of Bhool Bhuliyaa is also remaking BR Chopra‘s 1978 drama Pati Patni Aur Woh starring Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday and also Hrishikesh Mukherjee‘s 1975 comedy Chupke Chupke, in which Rajkummar Rao will play the role previously played by Dharmendra in the original film.
