Creed 2’s narrative is inconsistent and takes time to have an impact on you.
A sequel to Creed (2015) and the eighth installment in the Rocky film series, Creed 2 is mainly about Adonis Creed’s (Michael B. Jordan) internal and external battles. He’s challenged for a boxing match by Victor Dragos (Florian Munteanu), the son of the former Soviet Boxer Ivan Dragos (Dolph Lundgren). This is not just a normal boxing match as Ivan had killed Creed’s father in the boxing ring many years ago. Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) plays Adonis’ coach and mentor.
The film is predictable and formulaic. Some of the characters are even very caricaturist. Yet, it works. The climax and the events leading up to it are pretty good. Michael B. Jordan & Sylvester Stallone deliver excellent performances.
So Creed 2 might not be perfect but can be watched nevertheless. We give it 3 buzzing bees.
