Buzzing Bees – 3.5
Doctor Strange is the story of a brilliant but arrogant surgeon Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) whose future is in the blind when a car accident leaves him with broken hands. The movie follows his search for miracle cure and medicines that will heal and lead him into a magical realm that defies the laws of physics. Doctor Strange is Marvel Studios latest installment and damn it lives up to it’s expectation
The movie is so visually transfixing that you forget to concentrate on the storyline during certain parts. The theories are inventive enough that you are totally mindboggled by the end of it. However, you might be still be a little confused by the end of Doctor Strange (Think Inception and Interstellar). It takes an intelligent spin and blends theories of consciousness with quantum physics to explain the mystical abilities of sorcery. You won’t necessarily feel lost but it takes time to process the information.
Benedict Cumberbatch does a brilliant job of playing with the character’s narcissism. His comic timing in the movie is genius. Though we think, the makers could have done away with the cape! It just seems stupid after a point!
The movie brings together a brilliant cast and every actor shines in their performance.
Tilda Swinton plays the role of teacher, The Ancient One really well.
Mads Mikkelsen is a villain you won’t forget for a long time. He dominates the screen during his scenes!
Chiwetel Ejiofor shares a brilliant rapport with Cumberbatch throughout the movie. And he might as well be the best executed character on screen after Doctor Strange.
Overall, go for it. Don’t think too much and try to understand the complexity of physics, it’s the worth movie ticket and popcorn!
