Karan Johar has completed 20 years as a director in Bollywood. KJo made his entry with the1998 hit, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai starring Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan. The director-producer is now heading to Melbourne to celebrate his 20 years in Bollywood at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).
Over the last two decades, Karan has directed many memorable movies like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, My Name Is Khan, Student of the Year and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. These films have made a place in everyone’s heart and minds while breaking some box office records at the same time.
To celebrate his landmark achievement in the industry, the IFFM is all set to commemorate 20 years of Karan Johar. The director will be flying down to the cultural melting pot capital to be part of the celebration. As a part of the schedule, the festival will host a special screening of his debut project, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. They will also have a special conversation with the director in presence of hundreds of KJo fans from across Australia.
Speaking about it, Karan said:
“I’m excited to be celebrating this landmark year in my professional life at IFFM. It’s been a very rewarding 20 years of a journey and time well spent telling stories and having the freedom to be a storyteller. Filmmaking is my passion and the deep rooted love I have for cinema and being here in this time to be completing two whole decades is very gratifying. I have been to the festival before and I have loved being there. I’m looking forward to another opportunity to celebrate Indian cinema in the land down under.”
