The most awaited slice of life film of the year ‘Dear Zindagi’ releases today. Dear Zindagi is about budding cinematographer Kaira played by Alia Bhatt who is stuck in a rut of bad relationships, her landlord has asked her to vacate her house and her life is currently a mess. She moves back to her parents’ house in Goa where she meets a top notch therapist Dr. Jehangir Khan aka Jug played by Shah Rukh Khan. The movie revolves around Kaira’s life after she meets Jug and how her inner demons are put to rest with his help.
Alia Bhatt shines in the role of Kaira and most of the modern day girls can relate to her character. Kunal Kapoor, Angad Bedi and Ali Zafar do alright in their respective roles as Kaira’s love interests. But it’s Shah Rukh Khan who steals the shows and at the end of the movie you wish that you had a therapist like Jug but minus the extra gyaan that Gauri tries too hard to fit into the narrative.
Gauri Shinde does a decent job as a director with Dear Zindagi because we expected a lot from her post English Vinglish and this one somehow doesn’t live up to the mark. Amit Trivedi’s music is soothing and will instantly bring a smile on your face.
Overall Dear Zindagi will leave a smile on your face and you won’t regret watching this one.
