One of the reasons that Ra.One, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor, stood out was for its exceptional animation. It tried something that Bollywood movies had tried earlier but succeeded in taking it one step forward. Charu Khandal, the animator of Ra.One who bagged a National Award for its spectacular VFX, took her last breath yesterday. On the sad demise, Red Chillies VFX team posted a message on their Facebook account.
If you are not aware, in 2012, Charu was on her way home after the award function with her sister in an auto-rickshaw, and the duo met with an accident. She was immediately admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and was paralyzed neck down. Manoj Kumar, who was in the driver’s seat, was arrested for rash driving and got out on bail soon after. Later, the family shifted to Jaipur and refused to file a case because of their financial constraints.
So here’s how the ‘Judiciary’ story goes – A young ambitious girl pays with her life and her family pays with pain, a driver ruins someone’s life but gets away on bail and a famous Bollywood star gets away with illegal use of arms and poaching of animals! It’s almost embarrassing when we stop to think of the things that our dear judiciary system is willing to do in the name of justice.
Why do we choose grey when things are so clearly black and white? Why is it that a rich man can get away with murder? When can we stop and proudly say that our backbone is supported by a strong system that will not rest until all is right? What a shame to live in a time when everything that is so clear is still called blurry.
