This year seems to be the year of Box-office clashes. It began with the head-to-clash clash between Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaabil. And then the trend followed. Some movies (case in point, Raees vs Kaabil), even gained out of the clash.
While the trade pundits and the audiences both enjoy the thrill, but all the trade wants is business, while all the audiences look for is entertainment and a different experience. Well, the releases Sridevi starrer Mom and Kartik Aaryan and Paresh Rawal’s Guest Iin London releasing on the same day – July 7th, 2017, promises one such experience.
Coming from different genres (Mom is a thriller and a dark film, Guest Iin London is a light comedy), this clash becomes more and more interesting.
Despite a great comeback with English Vinglish (2012), Sridevi waited do another Hindi film for five years, so the Goddess’ second innings with Mom is definitely the most awaited. Also it’s Sridevi’s 300th film and the trailer of this film guarantees that Sridevi’s performance and the movie will blow your mind off.
Guest Iin London, on the other hand, is a family-film with loads of comedy. It has been a long time since Paresh Rawal is back on the big screen, in a comic role, which the audiences love to watch. The movie has a cherry on the cake as Gen Y’s heartthrob Kartik Aaryan (best known for his role/monologue in Pyaar Ka Punchnama) will accompany Paresh for what promises to be a laughter riot. In fact Kartik’s chemistry with Paresh Rawal is being compared to the Akshay Kumar-Paresh Rawal duo (remember Hera Pheri series, and Oh My God!). Now that’s something we all cannot miss at any cost, can we?
So let’s see if Sridevi’s vengeful Mom act or Paresh-Kartik’s comic timing wins the audiences hearts and gets the box-office ringing!
