Makar Sankranti
Makar Sankranti is a festival mainly celebrated in west India. This festival marks the end of the winter solstice and the start of longer days. It is one of the few ancient Indian festivals that has been observed according to solar cycles.
It occurs at the same time as that of Pongal and Lohri. Makar Sankranti associated with kite flying and Bollywood is not far from incorporating it in films and songs.
