The minions may have taken over in the last installment of the series but Gru (Steve Carell), is back with Despicable Me 3. Gru is ready to catch some villains but he is not alone!
The trailer is missing the minions for the most part but it also introduces the film’s cocky new villain trying to steal a diamond bigger than him! His only armour in the heist is a piece of bubble gum & a grenade like Rubik’s Cube.
Gru, one mad villain himself is fighting for the Anti-Villain League & is set to destroy every dangerous villain out there. Balthazar Bratt is shown to be a former child star turned bad because his career comes to an abrupt end! The villain is shown to be obsessed with the 80’s obsessed super-villain and his ‘costume’ makes it look like someone from the 80s threw him into the future. Watching Gru & Bratt fight it out is rather funny!
Despicable Me 3 also sees the return of Kristen Wiig’s Lucy. Gru & Lucy got married at the end of the last film & as expected, the producers have taken their story forward by showcasing how marriage has brought changes to their characters.
The trailer does justice to its previous installments, although we do miss the minions (a lot). They make a brief appearance and are seen playing DJs to a Birthday party!
Directed by Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin, Despicable Me 3 is also rumoured to introduce Gru’s twin brother who was popular on cheesy ’80s television shows . Apparently, Steve Carell will voice Gru’s twin brother but not much is known about the character yet. We’ll just have to wait this one out, until then watch the trailer here:
