For starters, Irada is one of those movies that touches a subject that in itself is a completely new genre in Indian cinema. So kudos for that! It’s amazing when movies take a step forward and venture into an unknown territory. Irada does just that and pulls it off very well!
The film tries to enlighten the audience about the perils of contaminated water; a harsh reality of urban townships. The movie manages to explore how pharmaceutical companies are playing with innocent lives. Naseeruddin Shah is portraying the character of a retired army officer, Parabjeet Walia. He is devastated when he figures out his daughter’s illness and starts digging for answers. Later on, he discovers that many people are dying of cancer in his township, and the reason is the contaminated water flushing out of the pharmaceutical company, run by Sharad Kelkar. Naseer joins hands with Arshad Warsi, who is an intelligence officer, working with NIA. Divya Dutta will be seen in a negative role and she does justice to the plot!
The movie has spectacular actors and great cinematography. While the storyline struggles a little bit, it leaves you with satisfying celluloid experience. If you are looking forward to knowing more about the reality of the country, its Irada after Udta Punjab.
