Actors and actresses replacing each other in films is pretty common in the industry. Films pass from one individual to another on account of various reasons like dates, prior commitments and what not! The recent examples of this are Shraddha Kapoor replacing Katrina Kaif in Street Dancer 3D, Parineeti Chopra stepping into the shoes of Shraddha Kapoor in the Saina Nehwal biopic and Katrina Kaif featuring in place of Priyanka Chopra in Bharat.
What many people do not know is that Deepika Padukone wasn’t the first choice for Shoojit Sircar’s in Piku.
During her appearance on a chat show with her BFF, tennis ace Sania Mirza, Parineeti Chopra revealed that she would have been in Shoojit Sircar’s 2015 slice-of-life film, Piku.
A leading daily article quotes the actress talking about her reasons behind missing out on Piku:
“I didn’t really turn down the film… there was a confusion. I was going to do another film at the same time and then that film also didn’t happen, so it was my loss,”
While Parineeti is a talented actor in her own right, her style of acting is quite different from Deepika’s. However, we don’t think anyone other than Deepika Padukone could have pulled off the character.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, Piku is an endearing father-daughter tale, with megastar Amitabh Bachchan essaying the role of Deepika‘s on-screen dad. Piku was a commercial as well as critical success.
On the work front, Parineeti will soon be seen in Jabariya Jodi opposite Sidharth Malhotra. She is also prepping for the biopic on badminton player Saina Nehwal as well as Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar opposite Arjun Kapoor.
