Actor Akshay Oberoi is on cloud nine these days. He’ll be soon seen in a national award winning cinematographer, Shanker Raman’s film ‘Gurgaon,’ which also did a round of the prestigious Macau Film Festival recently, and has also recently wrapped up the shoot for Akshat Verma’s ‘Kalagandi’ along with Saif Ali Khan. On the other hand, he’s also started shooting for a new web series along with Nimrat Kaur, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and produced by Ekta Kapoor.
While Akshay plays an Army officer, Nimrat plays a commander in the series, and both are romantically paired opposite each other. Talking about the project, Akshay says,
“It’s a fantastic and extremely gripping story and we have started the shoot in Satara, Maharashtra soon. Nimrat is an amazing actor. I think working in projects like this helps hones any actor’s abilities. That’s why increasing number of actors are doing stuff like this between movie projects. I have been a part of couple of web series and this format works very well. Bigger film makers getting in to this will only give the medium a boost.”
Akshay will soon be seen in another web series along with his upcoming Bollywood projects. Interestingly, contrary to the misconception that a Bollywood actor turns to web series only when they don’t have film projects in hand, Akshay is one of the very few young Bollywood actors, who is a part of main stream cinema as well as doing web series simultaneously, changing the perception of web series within the industry.
