Based on the famous short story, ‘Kabuliwala’ by Rabindranath Tagore, ‘Bioscopewala’ plays the same role in Minnie’s life, when she was 5 years old and was very close to her Bioscopewala a.k.a. Rehmat Khan.
The story revolves around how Minnie a.k.a Geetanjali Thapa tries to find out what happened to her childhood BFF Bioscopewala that he ended up committing a crime. Check out the trailer, right away:
Though there were some loopholes in Bioscopewala; despite that, hats off to the debutant director Deb Medhekar for introducing us to such a beautiful story.
Danny Denzongpa completely stole the show! From playing a Bioscopewala to an Alzheimer’s patient, he plays all shades of a good human being with extreme ease. Geetanjali is well-known for her acting skills anyway. No one could have done Minnie Basu better than her.
All in all, Bioscopewala is the most heartwarming 91 minutes you will spend in a theatre. We give this one 3 buzzing bees and an extra jar of honey for Danny!
