Deepika Padukone, who was last seen in Padmaavat, will soon get a wax statue at the Madame Tussauds museums in London, and New Delhi; the actor confirmed in a Facebook live video from the British capital. After the wax statues of Bollywood stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Katrina Kaif, Deepika becomes the next in line to get her statue at the popular museum.
“It’s fun, exciting and in a way, I feel a lot of gratitude because you know when you give your fans a little more than just the movies, then it’s really, really special. I hope they enjoy it as much as we enjoy creating it,” Deepika said in the announcement video.
“The only time I visited Madame Tussauds was in London when I was very little with my parents. That memory has sort of stayed with me, obviously. And then to receive a letter and now to be a part of that, and to actually experience what goes into making these wax figures. I think Madame Tussauds is so iconic in so many ways so it’s really special,” she added.
Deepika took to Instagram and posted the very first pictures of the statue being made, take a look at them here:
Deepika is currently in London getting her measurements taken for the process. Asked whom she’d like her statue to be placed next to, she said,
“I think near fun people so that we can have our own little party there. But I think just to be part of this legacy of people who have achieved so much in life is exciting enough.”
Deepika’s statue will be placed in the A-list category.
