Last night Bollywood gathered to celebrate the best of 2016 at the Stardust Awards. It was a glamorous event full of shiny outfits, gelled hair, expensive suits and couture personified. The event in itself was full of surprises – Jacqueline Fernandez for Best Leading Actor nomination and no sign of Alia or Sonam in the list. Karan Johar for best director? Disha Patani AND Saiyami Kher winning the best debut award! AJAY DEVGN winning ‘Path Breaking’ direction for Shivaay?
Cmon Stardust, get a grip please.
Another surprise came in the form of the fashion we saw on the red carpet. A lot of people confused the award ceremony for a Garba night, for some reason, Sonam and Jacqueline decided to twin it and failed, a LOT of women gelled their hair back, men din’t make enough efforts to stand out. Overall, not the best night for fashion. Take a look at the best and worst of last night –
Best Dressed
Priyanka Chopra – The global star looked beautiful in this indo-western outfit. We were more than happy to see her back in Mumbai!
Anil Kapoor – If you ever doubted if the man ever ages, this picture should be proof enough. Yes, the black and white combination is a little over done but he makes it look good.
Anushka Sharma – This one is barely on the fence. We couldn’t make up our minds about the outfit but she carries it with great panache!
The Bachchans – Oh the Bachchans made quite the entrance and look classy as hell! They look like royalty decided to take classy up a notch!
Harshvardhan Kapoor – The actor knows what suits his body and he always manages to impress us at the red carpet.
Kajol – So Kajol decided to bring sexy back! The black fitted dress with the dark lipstick and gelled back hair look absolutely perfect. Hers was one look that we didn’t have to think twice about!
Karan Singh Grover – He may have not made a mark with his movies this year but he definitely stood out on the red carpet last night. Clean, simple and classy always works.
Kriti Sanon – Kriti Sanon is a delight on the red carpet. She always seems to nail the look for the night. Sure, sometimes it feels like she plays it too safe and fails to experiment but she looks picture perfect every time.
The Kapoors – Elegance always wins and the Kapoors sure know it!
Salman Khan – Bhai chose a classic black ensemble and looked sophisticated AF!
Sunny Leone – We don’t dig the makeup one bit but her dress, those earrings and that million dollar smile were a winner on the red carpet!
Varun Dhawan – This guy was the best dressed of them all!
WORST DRESSED
This is a LONG list! Fasten your seat-belts people!
Daisy Shah – The fitting of the entire ensemble is just off. Darling, not everyone can wear red, twirl on the red carpet and become a global sensation!
Bhumika Chawla – She mistook the award ceremony for Sunday mass but no one will wear this to Sunday mass either. So..!
Claudia – A pretty face she sure is but we’re afraid that’s as far as we can go because everything else simply looks bad! The outfit screams for attention but sadly deserves none.
Disha Patani – The M.S. Dhoni actress walked the Red Carpet in what looked like a thrift store version of Poo’s outfits from K3G.
Ira Dubey – Where do we even begin! While the outfit would work better for a prom night, the hairstyle makes her look 20 years older.
Elli Avram – Elli seems to have taken a liking to the curtains in her house & decided to show up to the red carpet dressed in one.
Jacqueline Fernandez – Why do celebrities over-complicate their outfits? Her stylist seems to have drawn inspiration from one of the Disney princesses but has gone horribly wrong with it.
Sonam Kapoor – Like peas in a pod! Sonam’s outfit has the same problem as Jacqueline! Best friends share everything – bad red carpet outfits included.
Look at these two –
Pooja Hegde – The outfit makes her look manly for some reason and is not her best red carpet look!
Saiyami Kher – This fusion of Indian style with a western gown is just not working Saiyami.
Sana Khan – Dear God woman! We thought your acting was the worst thing we saw this week. Clearly, we were wrong.
Sridevi – The diva confused the awards ceremony for a 70s themed Disco party!
Tamannah Bhatia – Nothing from the dress works in her favor. The fitting is off, the length makes her look like a 15-year old who decided to come to the party.
Tanishaa Mukerji – Looked like she stopped by the event after her garba night.
Urvashi Rautela – Maybe..just maybe the outfit would have looked better if it was not made of such a tacky material.
Shah Rukh Khan – Don’t get is wrong we love SRK… but come on, that outfit doesn’t do any justice to King Khan. You have to agree, we’ve seen him sport much better looks!
And amongst celebrities, there was one gift wrapped package left on the red carpet!
