Feature Name: Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan
Director: Morten Tyldum
Cast: John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce,
Run-time: 1Hr 30Mins (1st episode)
The iconic Tom Clancy hero, Jack Ryan played by John Krasinski is a former Marine now working behind a desk as an analyst for the CIA. While tracking suspicious bank transactions, Jack thinks he stumbled upon “a brand-new Bin Laden” known as Sheikh Suleiman and gets called up to the big leagues when his new boss Jim Greer (Wendell Pierce) backs his hunch. Jack insists he’s not cut out for this — “I don’t interrogate people! I write reports!” — but he’s soon pulled into an intense whirlwind of death-defying action overseas.
Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland are cruising this spy-thriller. When the scene moves from desk to the war zone it gives evidence of Michael Bay’s hand in the show’s production with all that bullets, bombs and aerial strikes destroying everything in and out of its range. The call of keeping the Arabic dialogues between the natives is what gives the show an authenticity and we applaud that even though that will make us need the subtitles.
