Manoj Bajpayee an amazing and versatile actor. The actor gained immense recognition as Bhiku Mhatre in Ram Gopal Varma’s crime drama Satya (1998). He is the recipient Recipient of two National Film Awards as well as four Filmfare Awards. After over two decades in the industry, Manoj was recently bestowed with India’s fourth highest civilian honor – the Padma Shri for his contributions to art.

Dipesh Jain’s Gali Guleiyan starring Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey, Neeraj Kabi, Shahana Goswami and debutant Om Singh released in Indian theatres on September 7, 2018

Gali Guleiyan premiered at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival. It was also screened at the 2017 MAMI Film Festival, Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, Atlanta Film Festival. 42nd Cleveland International Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival and the 2018 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. The film that received rave applauds for its content and garnered a lifetime box office collection estimated at Rs.50 lakhs.

Aligarh, a 2016 Indian biographical drama by Hansal Mehta stars Manoj Bajpayee and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles. Here Manoj played a homosexual professor in Aligarh that as many as five actors—Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Aditya Roy Kapoor—rejected.

The film had its world premiere at the 20th Busan International Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation. The film was released worldwide on February 26, 2016 to critical acclaim. Bajpayee even won critical acclaims and a Filmfare Critics Award for this role but alas it didn’t click with the Indian audience.

Manoj played the role of a headstrong cop in Eeshwar Nivas directed Shool(1999). The story follows the life of an honest policeman who earns the wrath of a politician which disrupts his life.

The film was greatly liked but failed to get in similar numbers at the box office

Manoj Bajpayee entered the field of romance with Shyam Benegal’s Zubeidaa. He played a charming Maharaja Vijayendra Singh who shared screen space with the beautiful Rekha and Karisma Kapoor. The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi that year.

Made on a budget of approx. ₹5 crore, the film amassed around ₹5.6 crore at the box office

In this a 2003 Indian period drama film directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Manoj Bajpayee gave one of his best performances according to him. In Pinjar he plays the role of an unsympathetic kidnapper who falls in love Puro, a character played by Urmila Matondkar. From a kidnapper to a loving husband, Manoj showcases his acting skills to the best. He won the Special Jury National Award for it.

Unfortunately, this film too didn’t leave an impression at the box office.
