Shekhar Kapur: There Can Never Be Another Mr. India Movie Without Sridevi
Shekhar Kapur has dismissed all reports that suggested a sequel to the Anil Kapoor starrer Mr. India. When asked about Anil Kapoor collaborating with him for a sequel of Mr. India, the director responded,
“False alarm!”
A source who is close to Boney and Anil Kapoor says,
“There will never be another Mr. India. Sridevi is gone and it is impossible to imagine Mr. India without Sridevi. Even if Anil Kapoor was agreeable, Boney Kapoor, who was the producer of Mr. India, would never dream of doing a sequel without his late wife.”
But sources in the industry speculate that the director is in talks with Anil Kapoor and may collaborate for a web series.
Director Shekhar Kapur on being asked about the Mr. India sequel, here’s what he had to say on the topic:
“I don’t know what is happening with that project or what Boney Kapoor’s plans are. I was never going to direct the sequel. Now with Sridevi no more, the question doesn’t arise.”
