Are you a TV buff? Do you cancel plans to finish one episode that has one heck of a cliffhanger? Do you constantly find yourself searching the internet for new shows to get over your PTSD after one series is over? LOOK no more! A new year brings some epic new series and here’s a list of 12 exciting TV shows 2017 has to offer:
1. The Defenders
For now, all we know is that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist team up to fight crime in New York City. The trailer dropped sometime in July this year, and Marvel fans have been dying to watch more!
2. Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events
Jim Carrey immortalized the character of Count Olaf and if there is anyone who can match up to him, it’s Neil Patrick Harris! For those of you who don’t know, A Series of Unfortunate Events is a series of 13 children’s novels by Lemony Snicket, following the lives of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire after their parents’ death in a fire. The children are placed in the custody of a murderous relative, Count Olaf, who tries to steal their inheritance and, later, orchestrates numerous disasters as the children attempt to flee his clutches.
3. Iron Fist
While Marvel fans would love to get a look at the journey that transformed Danny Rand into the Iron Fist, it seems the series will start from Rand’s return to New York City after several years of being MIA. The trailer has lots of action, martial arts and punching by THE Iron Fist!
4. Frontier
We’re telling you, it is superhero season in 2017! Jason Momoa, better known for being Khal Drogo, will be giving your lonely nights some companionship by being DC’s Aquaman! The series is set in the 18th century. Aquaman fans will definitely have a ball watching their favorite story come to life!
5. Big Little Lies
For starters, the series boasts of a terrific cast – Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Adam Scott, Larry Sullivan amongst others. It’s a comedy-drama mini-series of seven episodes following the lives of three mothers of kindergarten kids. In a series of extremely weird events, they find themselves in the middle of a murder drama. The series is based on Liani Moriarty’s book by the same name.
6. Riverdale
Every Archie Comics fan in the world jumped with incredible joy when this was announced. Inspired by the lives of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie and the other characters, Riverdale leans towards the darker side. The show is brought to us by CW, who also gave us Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl. Suffice to say, expectations are very high!
7. Star Trek: Discovery
The series returns with a new ship and all new characters. While the trailer only gives a very tiny glimpse of the universe, it’s enough to make all Star Trek fans weep with joy.
8. Girl Boss
I think we all need some of this! A broke rebellious teen who ends up running her own fashion empire – how can you not want to watch this story? It’s what all untouchable dreams are made of!
9. The Young Pope
The Italian-Spanish-French drama television series stars Jude Law and Diane Keaton. It follows the beginning of the pontificate of Lenny Belardo, alias Pius XIII, the first American Pope in history. Pretty cool huh? Jude Law is freakin brilliant in the trailer and the reviews are smashing! Watch the trailer and then try to come to terms with the fact that you might just have a crush on a pope.
10. Taken
Liam Neeson made sure everyone knew who Bryan Millis was. And if you don’t know the man, you surely know his threat because he will find you and he WILL kill you. Taken, the series, flashbacks to the young Millis and finally gives you the story of why his family is always the target of something that ends with terrific chaos
11. Exorcist
The show has already premiered in USA and will be coming to India in 2017. The series is made of all your nightmares, everything that you hope never happens and everything that makes your already cold heart colder. It follows the lives of two priests who tackle horrible demonic possession. If you’re into scary stuff then this is 50 shades of scary!
12. Powerless
Most of us are super excited about this one. For two reasons: One – Who doesn’t want to see how this insurance company settles damage claims caused by battles between superheroes and supervillains?
